Consultation Meeting of ''Contemporary Minstrelsy Tradition'' was conducted.

ETU Rector Prof.Dr. Bülent ÇAKMAK who spoke at the meeting held for the sake of the 70th year of UNESCO Turkey National Commission and "Minstrelsy Tradition’’ that is listed as Cultural Heritage of Humanity on its 10th year emphasized the close relationship between the position of a society within the stage of history and the importance of that society that is closely related to the presence of that culture and civilization values. Importance of cultural values cannot be denied for the sake of raising national awareness while communities are taking steps towards a future in unity. On the other hand, within the scope of Minstrelsy Tradition that is recorded on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list in 2009 and the tradition of 'Living Human Treasures Program' which is kind of national inventory system of powerful representatives, we have to take more responsibility for its operations. Therefore, trying to keep the tradition alive and carrying it to future generations is very important in terms of protecting our cultural heritage with the help of UNESCO National Commission of Turkey and our partners. Since the establishment of ETU and especially Faculty of Letters Turkish Language the Department, we are trying to keep alive the tradition of minstrelsy and promote it with the support of the Literature Department through programs not only organized regularly with various activities each year for the students of the mentioned department but also to all other student of the faculties. We remind that this is a national duty. Furthermore, our students with the guidance of their instructors love to go to the coffeehouse sustaining the tradition and are informed about the tradition here. In this context, Erzurum Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent ÇAKMAK offered his gratitude to especially UNESCO the National Commission chairman and members as well as all other institutions, organizations and participants at the end of his speech after Prof. Dr. Bülent ÇAKMAK stated that ETU is trying to pull its weight in order to sustain and transfer the tradition to future generations.
