Our university hosted tree planting thanks to "Breath for Future" project being taken place in 81 provinces simultaneously. Erzurum Governor Okay MEMİŞ, Metropolitan Mayor Mehmet SEKMEN, Palandöken Mayor Muhammad SUNAR, Aziziye Mayor Muhammad Cevdet ORHAN, Yakutiye Mayor Mahmur UÇAR, Police Chief Mehmet ASLAN and many citizens attended to the program held in our city.

Speaking at the program, our Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent ÇAKMAK began his words with the hadith: "Plant the sapling in your hand even if you know that apocalypse will break.” 

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Bülent ÇAKMAK said " A climate change workshop was held in our city nearly a month ago. We talked about such topics as the importance of renewable energy, the effects of global warming and the destruction of green and nature. In this context we talked about our university's potential to produce organic-based solar cells. Also, we met with private entrepreneur and Molecular Biology and Genetic teachers for both afforestation and native seeds because 3\2 of our campus will be green area. God willing, we will evaluate the 1000 acres of land."

Prof. Dr. Bülent ÇAKMAK continued his speech with a quotation from Oğuz Atay "Do you know what is human? He\She is the one who cuts trees and makes paper, then writes 'Protect trees" on that paper." Then he said "Unfortunately we live these contradictions. But it is a reality that we get significant saving with the help of EBYS system. We even started to initiate the digitalization process in education and do the exams on electronic environment."

The program ended after the planting of 12 thousand trees.
